Different kind of rat. Many names for them I have found out. Ground squirrel, sage rats, rats, gophers. I just got back from Alberta and everyone called them gophers. They are little squirrel or rat like animals that burrow. They like to come out of their holes and stand straight up and down and dare you to shoot. Great shooting and great fun. On my trip to Canada we shot so many it was crazy........Good entertainment and helps accuracy

I got out to Christmas Valley twice this year to hunt sage rats. I probably took a total of about 50 this year. It is lots of fun. I use a 10-.22 with a thumbhole stock, a heavy carbine barrel, and a shooting stick to keep me steady. It's a blast!
