Well, I have returned from my elk hunt empty handed. I passed on a couple of shots on the first day and have since realized that it constituted in a solid "jinx" for the rest of the hunt. I spent many hours and miles tracking some in the snow, up and down some of the steepest country I have ever hunted only to be eluded! Maybe better luck next year.

I had seven cows at 7am Sat morning and decided to hold out for a bull. Then 3 cows in the timber Sat. night. It was starting to get dark and they started to trot away and I was afraid of making a bad shot in dark timber down in a hole. It is disapointing but I know I made a good ethical decision. Unfortunately the next morning I was back in there and pushed them to another hunter and he shot one.
