OREGON HUNTERS ASSOCIATION 2006 COUGAR CONTEST
Buy a cougar tag this year, and you could bag a great prize – even if you don’t bag a cat!
OHA recognizes that predation is having a major impact on Oregon big game populations. This contest is aimed at encouraging hunters to buy cougar tags and hunt the big cats. ELIGIBILITY: 1. The contest is open to all OHA members in good standing. 2. The contest will run from Jan. 1, 2006, through Dec. 31, 2006. 3. Entries must be received by Jan. 8, 2007.
HOW TO BAG A PRIZE: ODFW rules require that each cougar killed must be presented to an ODFW employee for inspection within 10 days of the kill. Only cougars taken on a sporting tag will be eligible for this contest. The ODFW employee will fill out an information form for the state recording the vital details of the cougar. To be eligible for the prize drawing, the hunter must request a copy of that form and send the form or a photocopy thereof to: OHA Cougar Contest, P.O. Box 417, Beaverton, OR 97075.
On Jan. 8, 2007, OHA representatives will draw three names from all of the applicants and those individuals will be awarded the following prizes. 1. Remington Model 700 XCR Stainless .300 WSM 2. Remington Model 700 LSS .300 Win. Mag. 3. Weatherby Sub-MOA 7mm
CAT’S OUT OF THE BAG? You can still win even if you don’t punch your tag. All OHA members who purchase a cougar tag for the 2006 season will be eligible for a separate drawing. If you send a photocopy of your 2006 cougar tag to the above address, you will be eligible to win a Leupold VX-III matte 3x9 rifle scope. The drawing for this prize will be on Jan. 8, 2007.

Speaking of cougars, I have a tag but did you hear that the state is entertaining the idea of bringing in federal bounty hunters to shoot and trap them? They want the cougars brought under control and don't want us to do it. There is an online petition you can sign but can't seem to find the address right now. When I signed it I recieved an answer from ODFW which surprised me. So they are paying attention to peoples input.
