I do a little dove and quail if they jump up on me. It takes amin to shoot, have to let the heart attack calm down after the quail flush.

You're right about that. That's why I like huntin Chukkar and Pheasant with the dogs. More time to set up.

I know that we arent able to get as many now as we could back in the day, but does anyone enjoy pidgeon shooting? I would trade every quail I shoot for a good mess of fried pidgeon. Not as fast as doves but way harder skinned. I have seen em take a good load of 6's out of a 12 gauge and keep flying. NOt saying I don't like quail or grouse cuz i have hunted them since I was old enough to shoot but that dang bandtail pidgeon is by far my favorite, especially pass shooting them or stalking them in the elderberry trees.

Nope never gone pigeons hunting. Never really thought about hunting them. I use to do a lot of crow hunting when I was back in TN but I doubt that anyone wants to eat one of those.

lol yeah i dont know about the crows, but pidgeon shooting is a blast and they are mighty tasty. Used to be back in the day you could take a lot more, but the population seams to be down and now we get 2 a day for a 7 day season. I take what I can get.
