I have some rust on a pistol I bought. I often oil it to try to get the rust but I'm afraid it's pitted. Can i use some fine steel wool or sandpaper then use a blueing pen to fix it. Oh, I always wipe down my guns when I get home if they get wet to prevent rust. ;D

I loaned my shotgun to a buddy and got it back a few weeks later and it was rusted pretty badly. I used #0000 (Super Fine) steel wool and Blue Wonder gun cleaner and it worked unbelievably well. I removed all the rust and the blueing was not damaged at all. Make sure you use the #0000 steel wool or you will damage the blueing. I was shocked with how well it turned out and that it did no damage to the blueing. Hope it works out for you!
