Is there any blacktail hunters here? I tryed my hand in it and I worked my butt off to even see a deer. One hard deer to hunt I think.

yep. i love hunting blacktails during the late archery season. falls during the rut so all of the big bucks are out and about. doesnt make it any easier but the chance of seeing a good buck is certainly increased.

Man I give it to ya. I really had a hard hunt in 2002 hunting outside of Eugen. I came out with a forked horn but it was with a rifle.

I have killed quite a few except last year. we had two elk in the freezer and didn't feel the need to kill a deer too.Where were you hunting?

When I was hunting blacktails I was up on the santiam pass near TrailBridge reservoir. There was quite a few people up there and not enough game.

You need to go further south.Any where from 138 south will work lots more deer down here. Personally I prefere to hunt coastal blacktail, some of my biggest ones came from units where you could see the ocean. I heard it has to do with the salt , but they do have some whoppers in the cascades.

I sure like to get my hands on one of those half mule deer half blacktail. Bench I think thats what they call them. But I hear they sure grow to be some really big animals. Never heard of salt effecting the way a deer grows ,very interesting.

This was the first i tried blacktail hunting in the late bow season and it was great. I rattled a fork into about 3 yards for a friend. We didn't get the buck but i was still a great time.

Well good job Parn.....Its always fun to call in a deer. Me and my buddy was hunting with a bow back in 2002 (I think 2002) and he shot and missed a buck. I ended up grunting at him and he turned around and came back with in range. He ended up making a good shot on him. Its pretty exciting calling in your game.

I usually try to hunt them every year but this year is a little hectic for me. I'm too busy hunting other critters. #popcorn1bt#
