I have never really had a problem getting on deer, but these blacktails are kicking my butt. I have only went out a couple of time and only seen 3. And 2 of them I caught with the truck on the way home after the hunt and it was dark. Man I hope things pick up. I have hunted all kinds of ways and yet nothing. Clear cuts, heavy timber, open timber, logging any where from 1 to 20 years old. I cant figure out how to get on these deer. the only blacktail that I have killed I stumble upon in a clear cut walking back to the truck. So any advise I can get would help out.

Try hunting in the high country when there is snow. I have hunted Blacktail all of my life and have had good success doing this. I get on good tracks and go until I catch up. It's a lot of work but can pay off good.

I saw deer all year this year. I have found that where you think you will see a blacktail, you won't and when you are least expecting it, be quick with the rifle
