I'll put in for my Upper Deschutes deer tag as usual and I think I am going to put in for a cascade muzzleloader elk hunt. If I don't get that, it will be rifle Cascase elk.

This year I am going moose hunting in Aalska. I lived up there for 25 years and am getting together with some old friends by the Yukon river for 10 days. Should be a lot of fun.

Same thing every year for me. Upper Deschutes rifle deer and Cascade muzzleloader elk. Hopefully I have a job by then or I won't be able to afford it.

Hey guys, Glad to become a memeber. I was born and raised in Washington, hunted there for 22 years. Had the opportunity to move to Oregon and rasie a family last Septmber.
Being in a new environment I am now finding myself confused on where to hunt. I have two boys and need to get them out in the wild. My question is, where is the best accessible land with decent odds of bagging a deer. Don't care if it's whitetail, mule or blacktail. I was thinking coastal blacktail, but hear they can be hard because they don't move away from the brush much once they've shed? Any help would be great. I just want to be sure that I am doing this 100% legal and ethical. Thanks again.

Thats the million dollar question...Where to hunt in Oregon...Im sure if you ask a hundred different people they would all give you a different answer.
So in my past experiences these are the places I found to be good for hunting.
Black tail----McKenzie Unit...A good place to start hunting would be either Wendling, Oregon just outside Springfield. (with this hunt it would be in old logging units.. They do have rules to when you can go in there, so be sure to study up on that first. Second place would be up McKenzie pass... There is a reservoir called Trail bridge, there are several logging roads on the right hand side of the road that hold alot of elk and a good amount of bucks.
Mule deer-----I look to go for what I call the over looked units...You seem to find more deer and less people in these units...Maybe not the biggest buck but there are a few in these units...
Ukiah unit------usfr 54 is a great place to start Heppner-------- Heppner hwy outside of ukiah would be where I look first Mt Emily------Summit road is a must to check out..Be careful though it is the divide between two units..East mt. Emily and west mt. Emily Starkey---Ladd creek canyon is a nice area but you might find more luck going through Spring creek area.
I don't know to much about coastal bucks but I'm sure a few people on this site may be able to help you.....
This state has so much hunting oppertunities...It wont take you long to start bagging deer.
